Kagoshima Prefecture has many inhabited islands, and about 10% of the prefecture's population lives on these islands. However, most of the epileptic patients living on these islands have few opportunities to receive treatment from epilepsy specialists or neurologists, and improving epilepsy care in the Amami Islands is an urgent issue.","exam_purpose_img":1689,"exam_purpose_caption":""},"exam_overview":{"exam_overview_text":"\u25cfImproving epilepsy treatment\r\nSince 2018, an epilepsy outpatient clinic has been established at the prefectural Oshima Hospital once a month to provide consultations for patients who are having difficulty with diagnosis and treatment. Since then, examinations and surgery for intractable cases have been regularly carried out at Kagoshima University Hospital.\r\n\u25cfEpilepsy awareness-raising project\r\nSince 2017, we have been holding study groups with the aim of raising awareness of epilepsy treatment in the Oshima area. These have been suspended due to the new coronavirus infection, but we are planning to resume them.
