Background and objectives of activities
Part of the "Fumoto" community in Kagoshima has developed so far as the core city of Kagoshima Prefecture, even after the Meiji era. However, "Fumoto" is being forgotten, and the number of vacant old houses in "Fumoto" is increasing due to the declining birthrate and aging population, and the old houses in "Fumoto" are about to fall into decay. Therefore, we will disseminate information on the history and beautiful scenery of "Fumoto", identify problems in the revitalization of old private houses, develop various systems for their utilization, and conduct experiments to reproduce the old construction methods. The purpose of this project is to contribute to the community development and regional revitalization of the "Fumoto" community.
Summary of Activities
The "Fumoto Town Walking Map" was published (distributed free of charge at universities, etc.) to promote the history and value of the area, and old private houses will be measured and proposed for restoration to ensure livability. Also, conduct a demonstration experiment to reproduce red clay walls in an old private house to verify the construction method using local materials.
Expected Benefits
Renovation of KOMINKA old houses with locally sourced materials and craftsmans, and utilization of old private homes will help revitalize the local economy.
