Background and objectives of activities

Kuroshio biosphere's natural phenomena have a great impact on human activities and biological resources in East Asian countries and the Kyushu-Okinawa region. For the sustainable development of these local communities, we will analyze, evaluate, and predict the effects of natural phenomena in the Kuroshio Biosphere, and form an education and research center that will contribute to local communities.

Summary of Activities

Development of analytical techniques, forecasting and impact assessment of changes in the environment, ecosystem, and biological resources, and development and practical application of useful resources, by utilizing the advantages of scale, network, and field facilities (training ships and coastal experimental facilities) of a comprehensive university. In addition, in order to explore and solve regional issues, we will return and implement the scientific information and technologies obtained to society, and develop human resource for regional consulting.

活動の概要

Expected Benefits

Expect to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs by providing scientific information and technology to elucidate the mechanisms of natural disasters, climate change, and negative impacts related to biological resources. We aim to become an educational and research center that serves as a think tank and consulting service for local communities and industries.
