Background and objectives of activities
Each August, Technology Secton(Faculty of Education) hosts a "Fun Summer Manufacturing Class" for elementary and middle school students. The purpose of this class is to let children experience the fun and excitement of making things through hands-on manufacturing. It is also an opportunity for the children to interact with university faculty and students by using university facilities for a day. It is also an excellent summer research opportunity.
Summary of Activities
In 2023, a variety of crafts classes were held, including making glowing mud dango (for 10 students from 3rd to 6th grade), wooden cutlery (for 10 students from 4th to 6th grade), a moving boat (for 6 students from 4th to 6th grade), cutlery (for 4 students from middle school), and leather accessories (for 6 students from 4th grade to 3rd grade).
Expected Benefits
The program provides an opportunity for students to learn about the importance of technology in a recycling-oriented society and to develop an attitude to put it into practice in their daily lives, while being exposed to the viewpoints and ideas of materials and technology through intellectual manufacturing activities that involve ingenuity and creativity.
