Background and objectives of activities

When it comes to supporting children with developmental characteristics, it is important that support is provided seamlessly in the local community, at each stage of their lives, but there is a problem that support centers for developmental characteristics are concentrated in urban areas, and there are few opportunities for specialist consultations, etc. on remote islands. On the other hand, there are also unique strengths to raising children on remote islands, such as the opportunity to play outside in a rich environment, the presence of energetic elderly people, and child-rearing by a community with strong bonds.
This activity aims to create a support network for children and families by connecting supporters in the field of developmental support on remote islands online and sharing and improving their expertise. It aims to create a developmental support model that makes the most of the local connections that are the strength of remote islands.

活動の背景・目的

Summary of Activities

With the aim of building a network as a foundation for collaboration and cooperation between supporters, we hold a developmental support case study meeting online once every two months, connecting supporters from various local facilities on remote islands. In addition, four times a year, we connect staff from developmental support-related facilities in Kagoshima City and the Amami Islands online to hold training sessions and exchange meetings. We share specialist information as needed, but we believe that it is important to form a network where local supporters can support each other.

Expected Benefits

It is hoped that this will contribute to the promotion of health and welfare for children and families in various situations.
