Background and objectives of activities
TAMARI Pond is a place where many people on and off campus gather for recreation and relaxation. However, the condition of the pond was not good, as sludge had accumulated and blue-green algae had also formed, turning the entire surface of the pond green. The number and types of organisms living in TAMARI Pond were also not known, and it was decided to conduct an ecological environment survey and cleanup of TAMARI Pond in order to study future measures to improve the pond's environment and maintain it.
Summary of Activities
Removal of sludge, garbage, and other waste, replacement of pond water, and surveys of species and populations of organisms living in Tamari Pond were conducted. In addition, the Biological Research Committee discussed environmental protection measures based on ecological environmental surveys.
Expected Benefits
The project will prevent the loss of biodiversity and protect the ecosystem by identifying the number of native and non-native species and implementing environmental conservation measures in Tamari Pond. In addition, the project is expected to improve the urban environment by cleaning the pond and improving its water quality, thereby maintaining and enhancing an environment of recreation and relaxation for the general public.
