Background and objectives of activities

The project aims to promote Inter Professional Education (IPE) in the fields of health, agriculture, veterinary medicine, and engineering, and to strengthen students' understanding of team activities with different disciplines and multiple professions, as well as their health assessment skills. In addition, the program will further strengthen collaboration with Mishima Village Office staff to deepen understanding of local needs. This effort will lead to the promotion of academic research utilizing the strengths and characteristics of the comprehensive university, regional cooperation, and social outreach responding to regional needs.

Summary of Activities

The students of health, agriculture, veterinary medicine, and engineering will jointly make home visits to the homes of residents of potato and livestock farmers who live on highly isolated islands. Assessment (investigation and analysis) will be conducted on the subject's situation from the standpoint of each specialty, and the students will work together to discover and share the issues of farm households on remote islands. this is a developmental type of the "Health Assessment Education for Professional Collaboration Using Virtual Home Visits on Remote Islands as Educational Materials" conducted in FY2020, and will be implemented from FY2023 onward. The project aims to collaborate with overseas general universities that have these departments.

活動の概要

Expected Benefits

This project will lead to the Department of Public Health's "No One Left Behind on Remote Islands/No one left behind in the Department of Health Sciences" and will contribute to the health and welfare of remote island residents, job satisfaction, technological innovation in livestock and agricultural products, and the creation of a community where people can continue to live. In addition, partnerships can be built by eliminating disparities based on where people live (fairness) and by promoting collaboration with industry, government, and academia in Japan and abroad.
