Background and objectives of activities
In Recent years, the environment surrounding children has become more and more cramped for them. Children who are unable to endure such an environment may show various reactions. The theme of this public lecture is "truancy. The objective is for all participants to learn and think about how to catch the "voiceless voices" of children. The public lecture was held twice in total, in 2018 and 2019.
Summary of Activities
The participants were parents and other guardians of children who are not attending school. The activity consisted of two parts: a lecture and a talk session. The lectures were given by university professors of clinical psychology and cultural anthropology, who talked about the minds of truant children and how they perceive the phenomenon of truancy. In the talk session, participants freely discussed with each other their daily feelings, anxieties, and concerns. Participants and lecturers were able to talk frankly over tea and snacks together, and the participants also felt that it was a moment of relief for them.
Expected Benefits
The number of children and students in our country who are absent for more than 30 days per year for reasons other than illness and financial reasons, or who cannot enter the classroom even if they do attend school, is on the rise. We will think together about what kind of future vision we can offer these children.
