Background and objectives of activities


The area from southern Kyushu to the Nansei Islands is prone to a variety of natural disasters, including volcanic eruptions, torrential rain, typhoons and earthquakes. The aim of this project is to introduce research on disaster prevention and disaster management being conducted at Kagoshima University, and to contribute to the improvement of regional disaster prevention capabilities.

Summary of Activities

Lectures are given on a series of set themes (5 times a year) to students, faculty, local residents, private companies, local public organizations, national disaster prevention organizations, etc.
In order to make the event accessible to as many people as possible, it is held online.

Expected Benefits

By learning about various disasters and disaster prevention, we can foster a sense of crisis and recognize the importance of preparedness, which will lead to improvements in local disaster prevention capabilities, the realization of inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities and human settlements, and the construction of resilient infrastructure.
