Background and objectives of activities
The "Database of Bureaucrats and Government Officials in the Meiji Era," compiled and created by Keiko Kunioka, a researcher of modern Japanese bureaucratic history, will be made available to the public, providing a database that can be used for a wide range of purposes, from research activities in modern Japanese history to general studies of personalities.
Summary of Activities
The database contains the names of persons, positions, and pages of descriptions from 4th year of Keio era to 44th year of Meiji era (approximately ninth grade officials) and above, and the list of career paths of the persons listed contributes to the efficiency of research on modern Japanese history and makes it possible to use the database for general intellectual pursuits as well.
