Background and objectives of activities
The project aims to prevent aspiration pneumonia and other diseases by making it easier for the elderly to clean their mouths. This will increase healthy life expectancy.
Summary of Activities
∙ Development and commercialization of new oral care products primarily for denture wearers (joint research with Dentro Chemical Co., Ltd. see Figure 1).
∙ Basic and clinical research on denture cleaning methods and denture sterilization devices.
Expected Benefits
It is expected that the development and diffusion of new evidence-based oral care products will contribute to the health and longevity of many elderly people by developing and industrializing simple and safe methods of keeping dentures clean, while reducing the burden on the elderly themselves and their caregivers.
