Background and objectives of activities
The Regional Disaster Prevention Education and Research Center offers a common education course called “Disaster Prevention Studies for Protecting Lives and Communities” with the aim of improving the disaster prevention capabilities of course participants and developing human resources who can contribute to regional disaster prevention.

Summary of Activities
The course “Disaster Prevention Studies for Protecting Lives and Communities” is taught in an omnibus format, with lecturers including local government employees, and is open to both undergraduate students and the general public. It is also certified as a training course for “Disaster Prevention Specialists” involved in “Disaster Prevention Leader Training”, and by earning credits and completing a separate first aid course, students can qualify to take the Disaster Prevention Specialist qualification exam.
Expected Benefits
The aim of this project is to support students and working people in acquiring knowledge about disaster prevention and mitigation. This will lead to educational activities for disaster prevention and mitigation for many local residents, and will also lead to action by local residents to take specific measures through self-help, mutual aid, and collaboration, as well as contributing to the creation of towns where residents can continue to live with peace of mind.
