With the aim of social implementation of research seeds based on regional issues, the Open Demonstration Lab on campus and the Demonstration Field on the Tokunoshima Jeungdo and other islands have been established to carry out 'demonstration projects' and 'demonstration field projects' to visualise research results and conduct implementation tests.
Summary of Activities
Through demonstration projects, the University has deepened its research seeds (knowledge) and created regional innovations starting from potential regional issues, or 'micro-needs※', by providing and visualising research results to the region. So far, 13 'demonstration projects' in the fisheries, livestock, agriculture, education, manufacturing and catering industries have been undertaken in 11 'open demonstration labs and demonstration fields'.
※Micro-needs: Potential issues that have not been recognised as challenges by local people because they are natural and natural phenomena, but are clearly recognised as challenges by observers from outside the region, and for which innovation is expected in the process of solving them.
Expected Benefits
Creation of regional innovations starting from 'micro-needs', the latent challenges lying in the South Kyushu and Nansei Islands region.
