A nuclear disaster version of HUG has been developed as an educational material to enable the realistic experience of evacuation behaviour and life in a shelter in the event of a nuclear accident. Based on the lessons learnt from the Fukushima nuclear accident, this educational material is designed to enable simulated experiences of actual evacuation behaviour and life in an evacuation centre, mainly for persons requiring support for evacuation action, while interweaving a variety of risks. It is hoped that by experiencing this educational material, people in need of assistance themselves and their supporters will understand in advance the difficulties and risks they may face during an actual evacuation, and be able to make appropriate decisions and take appropriate action.
Summary of Activities
A nuclear disaster version of HUG has been developed as an educational material to enable the realistic experience of evacuation behaviour and life in a shelter in the event of a nuclear accident. With these teaching materials, the aim is to disseminate and raise awareness of disaster prevention and disaster mitigation efforts in a more practical manner as part of nuclear disaster preparedness, and can also be used as radiation risk communication materials.
Expected Benefits
It is hoped that by experiencing this material, people requiring special care themselves, or their supporters, will understand in advance the difficulties and risks they may face during an actual evacuation and be able to make appropriate decisions and take appropriate action.
