Background and objectives of activities
A wide variety of marine products are landed on the Amami Islands, but most of them are shipped off the island. On the other hand, restaurants in the Amami Islands use a lot of fish and shellfish from outside the islands and from overseas. Will tourists be pleased to eat fish that can be eaten anywhere in the Amami Islands? Let's offer distinctive "island fish" to tourists and have them become fans of Amami. We will clarify the production, processing, and supply system of "island fish" that will lead to the promotion of fishery management and the local economy.
Summary of Activities
(1) We will hold a study session for fishermen, distributors, restaurant owners, and consumers to analyze the factors that hinder the consumption of island fish on the island.
(2) Plan activities with local residents to promote consumption on the island and consider policy support needed.
(3) We will also examine resource management to ensure the sustainable use of marine resources, which are the source of our activities.
Expected Benefits
Promotion of sustainable use and sustainable consumption of marine resources, conservation of marine resources through appropriate resource management, and economic growth of the Amami Islands
