Background and objectives of activities


The University will play a leading role in the realization of practical veterinary education at the international (European and American) level, which is the goal of Japan's veterinary education reform, as well as in the prioritization and specialization of the University's livestock veterinary education against the backdrop of the largest livestock breeding region in Japan.

Summary of Activities

The Southern Kyushu Livestock and Veterinary Center (SKLV, Zaibe-cho, Soo City) will be a center for practical undergraduate education and professional refresher courses in livestock and veterinary medicine of international (Western) standards, accepting veterinary and livestock science students from all over Japan who wish to take courses in education and research, and training students who aim to become veterinarians and livestock technicians with the ability to respond to major environmental changes surrounding the agricultural and livestock industries. The facility will also provide a place for local people involved in livestock production and livestock farmers to learn the latest livestock quarantine technology, etc., by utilizing the human resources and facilities at the facility, thereby further promoting the agriculture and livestock industry, developing and securing human resources, and creating new human flows.

- Significant enhancement and improvement of clinical and practical training related to industrial animals
- A ripple effect not only on Kagoshima University but also on other veterinary and livestock-related universities throughout Japan.
