Background and objectives of activities


The program aims to develop human resources with the professional knowledge necessary for their jobs and to expand the consumption of shochu and the growth of shochu and related industries, targeting working people who are at the interface between the local industry (shochu industry) and consumers.

Summary of Activities

The program targets not only shochu producers, but also those involved in the liquor sales and catering industries, as well as tourism and local government officials, and all those who promote the charms of Kagoshima through shochu. The program aims to develop human resources with expert knowledge of shochu through systematic study of a total of 99 hours of lectures in cooperation with the Kagoshima University Faculty of Agriculture Shochu and Fermentation Studies Education and Research Center, Kagoshima Prefecture, Kagoshima Brewers Association, and SSI (Sake Service Institute, Federation of Sake Brewers Associations).

Growth of the shochu industry through increased demand for shochu and the development of shochu storytellers.
