Summary of Activities
At elementary schools on Amami Oshima Island, we are comprehensively identifying the plants that grow in the school grounds, compiling a list of the school grounds' plants, and creating a field guide. We are also using the results of this research to conduct classes in which students observe the school grounds' plants and make specimens, and we are continuing to carry out activities and research to learn about the biodiversity of the local area.
Expected Benefits
We expect that this will enhance the content of education related to biodiversity and foster an awareness of the need to protect the richness of the land and sea.
