Background and objectives of activities
In Kagoshima Prefecture, which has remote islands and isolated areas stretching 600km from north to south, it is extremely important to provide appropriate medical care regardless of where people live. It is necessary to provide education that will enable students to acquire the mindset to practice medicine in their local communities in the future through learning about medicine in Kagoshima, which has many remote islands and isolated areas.

Summary of Activities
We are conducting student training to learn about community healthcare on-site in collaboration with hospitals and clinics that play a central role in healthcare on remote islands and in rural areas. We hope that, through practical training related to healthcare as well as interaction with local residents, students will deepen their understanding of the community.
Expected Benefits
Based on their “experiences” with patients and residents in the community, students will gain authentic learning and become doctors who will give back to the community.
We will pass on to future generations high-quality education and learning that can only be gained through “experiences” in the field.
