Eco-Cap activities by student staff at the Volunteer Support Center
Volunteer Support Center
https://www.kagoshima-u.ac.jp/volunt/index.htmlBackground and objectives of activities
These are volunteers who have been working continuously since the Volunteer Support Center was established, as volunteers who can easily get involved in activities on a long-term basis. The aim is to raise awareness of volunteering even through small activities by helping with the employment support project for people with disabilities and the recycling project.
Summary of Activities
Student staff from the Volunteer Support Center and students who were interested in the activities used their free time from classes to wash PET bottle caps.
The PET bottle caps that are brought to the Volunteer Support Center from around the university are washed one by one by the student staff of the Volunteer Support Center, “Borara”, and then taken to welfare facilities in Kagoshima Prefecture via the Kagoshima Prefecture Council of Social Welfare, where they are used to support the employment of users of welfare facilities for people with disabilities.
This Ecocap Project is a project that provides employment opportunities for people with disabilities by having them carry out tasks such as weighing, sorting and crushing the caps, while at the same time promoting the reuse of resources.

Expected Benefits
By having student staff involved in both the employment support program for people with disabilities and a part of the recycling program, it is hoped that this will promote activities for students who are interested in these fields.
